The Rising Sun beat on the River Taw is about 1.4 miles of bank, it comprises of  the two prime Salmon and Sea Trout beats on the Taw. The beat has been fished by patrons successfully for many years.The beats contain some of the best fishing on the Taw and include such renowned pools as Diagonal Pool, Strode Steps and the legendary Bear Pit. The beat is easily accessible from the pub and starts from the bridge right outside.

The Taw is Fly only, spinning is only allowed during March.

Rods are £40.00 a day , four rods max a day. 

Trout rods are £20.00 a day.
